"Scala" combines 2 very different wallcoverings: a chenille warp-laid wallcovering, and a mica wallcovering. Mica or "vermiculite" is a mineral formed out of a chemical reaction between quartz and granite. The chenille warp-laid wallcovering is a traditional textile wallcovering. Omexco gave it a new life by using coloured backings before sticking the warps on top of the backing, and by suggesting a railroad hanging instead of the traditional vertical installation. Whereas the colours of the mica wallcovering are bright and slightly shimmery, the chenille wallcovering has more muted colours like havanna, mustard, vanilla, deep-red, ash-grey, leather-brown. |
